We are learning...

As well as the posts on our busy Facebook page, the Tapestry App, and through our MyEd messages,  we have created this part of our website to share with you what your child is learning in school.

On these pages you will be able to find out what we are learning  about throughout the year. Both as a whole academy and in different year groups.

Please see whole school highlights first, then a tab for each year group below that.

We hope you find them informative.

Whole School Learning
Summer Term

Although it may begin steadily, the summer term is an incredibly busy one and a great deal takes place then, suddenly, it is the end of another year!

Out and About

The good weather and longer days make this the ideal term for outside activities, trips and visits. Whether adventures are to be had at Carlton Road or further afield, the children will be busy learning outside the classroom. Above are some examples of forthcoming events.

Sport

The summer term means we are out on our fantastic sports field and track. There are lots of different games to learn in PE and we all, parents, teachers and pupils alike, look forward to our sports day.

During this term, many key assessment tasks take place: Year 6 SATS week of May 12th  plus Year 1 Phonics screen and Year 4 Multiplication check in June.

Your child's annual report is sent to you at the end of the summer term.

Spring Term

Thank you for the music!

As ever, we will be enjoying singing together as we learn about our musicians of the month and prepare for our end-of-term concert. In particular, Year 5 as part of Young Voices at Sheffield Arena in January; and Year 3, The Big Sing at Boston Stump, coached by choir master John Lyon, in March.

Carlton (on the) Road...

We look forward to learning in and outside school this term; highlights are Year 6 "The Happening" with Lincolnshire Police, Year 3 visiting Magna in Sheffield and Year 2 adventure to Lincoln Castle.

World Book Day will see us all enjoying stories together on March 6th, and World Poetry day takes place later in the month and Comic Relief on March 21st.

Benchmark | Skills Builder

We are looking forward to continuing our "Skills Builder" learning and finding out about different career options that could be open to us in the future. Careers week takes place in March

Please scroll past our Autumn whole school highlights to see our "What we are learning..." in more detail by year group.

Autumn Term

We returned with the theme of "Everyone Belongs at Carlton Road".

We celebrated our new class names, which were chosen to reflect individuals who have had to strive to belong and become a role model for such; who have created awareness of belonging in their communities and the wider world or whose legacy now means others belong who once might not have.

We used these books to help us think about what it means to belong.

Other learning opportunities this term:

Black History Month - reclaiming narratives.

Lincolnshire Day - Landmarks and produce of our county

Boston United Football Club Visit - No Room For Racism

   Boston United F.C. - Wikipedia

Harvest Festival and foodbank collection

Christmas Nativity EYFS and KS1  Christmas Concert  at the Stump Ks2
