Tattershall Castle
On Wednesday 21st September, the Year 2 classes went to Tattershall Castle as part of their topic for this term. The tour guides explained the history of the castle to the children and after that, they were shown around the castle and learnt about what each floor was used for during the time that Lord Ralph Cromwell and his wife lived there. The children used the spiral stair case to go to the very top of the castle where they could see Lincoln castle to the North, and Boston Stump to the south.
The afternoon was spent learning three medieval dances, which the children really enjoyed. They also got the opportunity to dress up as Lords and Ladies and learnt how to bow and curtsy. Later on, the children went to the Audience Chamber where they made brass rubbings of medieval Lords and Ladies.
The children had a fantastic, educational experience and now have a much better understanding of castles and their features, having had first-hand experience of a real life castle.
