Carlton Road sports teams have been very busy in the first two terms of this Academic Year. Here is what we have been up to:
FOOTBALL
Year 3 & 4
On the 5th October Our Year 3 & 4 football team went to a tournament for their first time and finished 3rd and received their first medals, well done.

Year 5 & 6 Girls
Our Year 5 & 6 girls’ football team have entered two competitions this year. A new Boston School Girls’ League and the Connect Sports Partnership Indoor Football Tournament.
The Girls have played 2 games in the League so far and are loving it. The first game was against St Nicolas Primary which they won 4:2. The second was against St Mary’s Primary which they also won 4:1. There next game is on 11th Dec against Hawthorn Tree, wish them luck.
On 23rd November at the Indoor Football Tournament the girls finished 2nd in a very close competition against Staniland Academy. The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves, only losing one game, but scoring more goals than any other team. Well done girls!
Year 5 & 6 Boys
Our Year 5 & 6 boys’ football team have also entered two competitions this year. The Boston Schools League and the Woodthorpe Cup.
In the league we have played 3 games: the first was against Hawthorn Tree, which we lost 9-0, but then we quickly turned it around a week later against Park Academy winning 7-0, the third game was against Staniland which we also won 4.0.
In the Woodthorpe Cup we played Old Leake away in the first round and won 9-0. In the second round we played Sibsey Free School at home on a very muddy pitch and in very strong winds. The game was very tight, but we prevailed against the conditions winning 4-2. We are waiting to see who we will meet in the semi-finals.

DODGEBALL
On 9th and 15th November the Connect Sports Partnership put on a Dodgeball Tournament for Years 4 and 5. This was the first time the event had been run so it was very well attended. Teams had to have an even mix of boys and girls with playing strong teams in both completions. Carlton Road’s Year 4 team came out on top with a close battle with Pioneers School.
We were also victorious in the Year 5 tournament, taking home the medals for the team got the most catches during the day.

TAG RUGBY
On 30th November Carlton Road entered the Connect Sports Partnership Tag Rugby Tournament. It was a very competitive competition which saw 6 teams battle it out for the medals. It was a mixed event with teams playing a minimum of 2 girls in each game. Two teams dominated all of their games throughout the day until they played each other in the last game of the day. The two teams were Tower Road and Carlton Road; it was a great game but Carlton Road succumbed to Tower Road’s dominance, finishing second on the day.

CROSS COUNTRY
On Saturday 1st December Carlton Road took part in the annual Boston Schools’ Cross Country Championships. We took two boys’ teams, but the girls ran as individuals. It was wet and windy, which made it a real cross country race, as the runners had to do two laps of the sports field at the High School. A fast pace was set from the start in both the boys’ and girls’ races which meant the field soon became strung out. Carlton Roads Boys’ “A” team finished 3rd, with boys finishing 6th, 11th, 18th and 33rd = 68pts. Carlton Road Boys “B” team finished 10th, with boys finishing 40th, 41st, 43rd and 57th = 181pts.
The girls’ positions were 19th, 43rd and 44th.
