World Book Day

World Book Day

Jenny2021-03-18T13:02:55+00:00

World Book Day this year was slightly different as we had some of our children learning from home, although, we still had an amazing day both at home and in school! We had a fantastic range of costumes, including some words such as nocturnal, synonym and fragile, as well as some of our favourite book characters. The children completed various activities related to the class book they were given and even got to see their friends, working from home, on a Zoom call! The children made us so proud as they celebrated reading and produced some amazing work. Happy World Book Day!

Police Investigation Day

Jenny2021-03-04T11:35:42+00:00

This week in Reception, we had a Police Investigation Day. When the children came into school, they noticed that overnight someone had been into the classroom and had eaten all of Miss Thompson’s biscuits. We asked the Police for some help but they were a bit busy so they asked the children if they could try to solve the crime by looking for clues and finding evidence. So the Monkeys and Giraffes became detectives. They took part in lots of Police related activities including taking finger prints, looking for clues and writing evidence, making name badges and police hats. The children loved solving the crime and had so much fun!

During science week, the year 3 Lions class built dams out of sugar cubes.
We looked into water absorption and who would make the best, most effective dam for keeping water out. The children tested three different colours of the water, they tested the different amounts of water and they tested the different materials they would use to block the water absorption.
The children really enjoyed all of their testing and reading stories about dams.

The Reception children had a Christmas party where we played party games, danced, sang Christmas songs and had our faces painted. Also Santa came to see us because we had been very good all year! He asked us all what we wanted for Christmas and reminded us to be asleep when he came on Christmas Eve. We all said that we had been very good boys and girls so he gave us all a present! We said thank you and then he had to leave because his reindeers needed feeding.

Reception have also enjoyed having Christmas Lunch and taking part in the Christmas Production! We have all had a fun festive time!

Carlton Road2018-07-17T13:53:20+01:00

On Wednesday 27th June, Year 3 took a trip to Magna Science Museum near Rotherham to consolidate their science knowledge.

They explored the 4 pavilions and took part in a practical workshop. The 4 pavilions were Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

They had great fun exploring how these elements help us, how they are created and what they can be used for.

They were also able to manipulate the elements to create different effects, sounds and results.

The practical workshop was called ‘Rocks and Volcanoes.’ The year 3 children were able to classify different rocks based on their properties and made an exploding volcano to show how different igneous rocks are made.
