Today we had Animals UK visit us . They showed us some exciting animals and told us lots of facts about them. We even got to hold the animals.
We saw a tortoise called Samson who was 12 years old and they can live to be one hundred years old. He is one of the largest species of tortoise and was very heavy.
We also saw a bearded dragon called Danny who was 6 years old . His beard blows up and changes colour when he is scared or angry. He is from Australia and can close his ears to stop sand from blowing inside them. He likes to eat insects, fruit and vegetables.
There was a chameleon called Funky who can change colour with the different moods he is feeling. When he is sad he turns black and grey and when he is happy he turns lots of different bright colours. He likes to eat insects and can climb and hang from his long tail .
We saw two different types of pythons . Dave was a royal python and William was a larger species of snake, a Burmese Python ( the fourth largest species in the world ). The children enjoyed holding these large reptiles.
The children also held Charlotte the tarantula . He has eight legs and eight eyes and we watched him spin some web.
We also saw a tenrec which is a mammal that looks like a hedgehog and they live in the rain forests of Madagascar and can climb trees.
Sophie the skunk was very soft and calm however it was the meerkats that were the smellier creatures. However the children still gave them a cuddle.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learning facts about the animals. If you would like to book them for children’s parties you can visit their webpage.
