Return to School Timings – September 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

It’s almost the end of another school year and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy holiday and well-deserved break.

I am also writing to notify you that when your child/children return to school for the beginning of the new academic year on Thursday 2nd September 2021, we will be reverting back to our ‘old’ start and finish times that we had prior to the pandemic. These will be as follows:

8.40am – First bell will ring, school gates will be opened and children will be allowed into school

8.50am – A second bell will ring for Registration

3.15pm – School bell will ring to signal the end of the school day

This week is local heritage week. We have been thinking about key landmarks and places in Boston. We have been making large scale maps using train tracks, construction materials and mark making materials. We have also been thinking about our journey to school and what we see along the way. Also the children used their observation and field work skills to map out the surroundings of our school. We learnt about the different compass points and then sat in different places around the school (North, East, South and West) and drew what we could see. I’m sure you’ll agree that the children have produced some fantastic work from this. They are able to remember lots of key facts about Boston and its surroundings!

On Friday 25th June, both Yr 2 classes went on a walk to The Guildhall. The trip was aimed at helping the children with their Topic ‘Voyages of Discovery and the Pilgrim Fathers’. The children learnt lots of interesting information and are now writing a recount of the day.

On Friday 25th June, the Reception children held a Pirate Day. The costumes were fantastic and the children had an amazing time. They did plenty of pirate themed activities such as writing messages in a bottle, drawing maps, making pirate hats and telescopes and then a treasure hunt. #aspire
