All the best Year 6
After a fantastic leavers assembly the day before, we gave out certificates and a year group photo to each of our much loved year 6 children.
They have provided the staff with many memories to treasure over the years and we are extremely proud of each of their achievements over the years.
We wish our leavers every success in the future and hope that they enjoy the next stage of their journey at secondary school.

In it to win it!
We actively encourage the importance of being in school everyone day and on time in order to access the full learning experience.
Some of our children managed 100% attendance for the whole of the school year. Their names were put into a draw and the winners each received a Kindle.
The lucky winners were sisters – a very healthy household it seems! Enjoy your kindles and keep coming to school each day.

Talented Taiko band.
In our final assembly the school were in for a real treat when the Taiko band performed. Earlier in the month the band took part in the bwaf fest and the audience were amazed by the confidence, concentration and energy of their performance – the whole school needed to see the pure talent for themselves.
See for yourselves why we are so proud of our musicians.

On Friday 5th July 2019, the Year 5 Mini Police Officers went for a Crime Prevention Walk around the local area with PC Tim Newall. They looked for examples of how people secured their homes. They had to pretend they were potential burglars and look for opportunities to enter a house illegally to steal valuables! Also during the walk, they discussed positives ways that people were protecting their properties. Following the walk, the Mini Police Officers worked together to create an assembly to share with the rest of the school.

STEM Project

Jenny2019-07-25T10:47:26+01:00

In term 3 of this year some of the children were asked to participate in a STEM project. The project is used to inform children about engineering and to encourage children to pursue a career in this field. There were 6 children from reception, year one and year two that participated. Their task was to answer the question ‘If you were an engineer what would you do?’ The children met an engineer through an online interview- Miriam Christofeletti who is a robotics engineer. They then needed to think of a problem that they encounter in everyday life and think of an invention to solve this. The children were very creative and thought of ways to get to school quicker, a robot to help the police and a rug that turned into a cushion if you fell onto it out of bed.
Three of the children were shortlisted for the East midlands region and two children went on to win first place and were given regional awards for their inventions. We were invited to the awards ceremony at the University of Herefordshire where the two winning children and their families met engineers and were presented with awards.
All children were given a certificate for taking part and these were presented in our Star of the week assembly. Well done to all of you, what a fantastic result, your hard work and creativity paid off!
