Online Safety Workshops
The Year 5 and 6 classes all took park in workshops by PC Neil Newell about Online Safety. All the children listened carefully and asked a range of questions during the workshop!
To start the talk, the children identified all the appliances and applications that they currently have and use on the internet. The children then considered what information they would tell a stranger on the street, in that, would they give a complete stranger their full name and date of birth? The children then realised that if they did not know someone online, then this is what they would be doing!
The children then watched a film called Jigsaw about a girl called Becky produced by The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), giving advice about how to be safe online (www.thinkyouknow.co.uk).
The workshop finished with a discussion about cyber bullying and what the children should do if they are concerned about anything online.
All the children certainly enjoyed the workshop and learnt more about online safety.
